Last week, Redland City Council handed down our 2014/15 - TopicsExpress

Last week, Redland City Council handed down our 2014/15 Budget: There is much to say on the matter, but my first response as a publicly elected community representative is to remind us what we have in Redland City Council, which is a beautiful place, with incredible people at a changing time. So, in lieu of a budget speech/response, which i can assure you will be coming, Id like to share this video I filmed in a small fishing village, Amity Point on North Stradbroke Island, about one year ago. It is a simple, visual story about people and place. As a councillor, if I start suggesting that money is the only measure of value, please remind me to take 11 minutes to sit and watch and see the value of people connecting with their world via council provided infrastructure. There is more to the future of life in a city than people promising to guarantee how much less we will have to pay. There is so much more to Redland City and our future, so here is my response to a budget that i have very clear reasons for voting against, as I value the people, this place and our ability to pay, not just now, but in future... I hope you enjoy a relaxing afternoon looking West from Amity toward Redland CFity, filmed in the past, while considering our future. https://vimeo/99460551
