Last week we met with a Dr in Denver to discuss further treatments - TopicsExpress

Last week we met with a Dr in Denver to discuss further treatments for mom. He talked about the possibilities of trial treatments but it was decided that these were not something that would be beneficial to mom. There were also two chemo treatments that he has suggested for her to possibly try. So today we met with the Dr here in the Springs to discuss these options a little more. Mom has decided to go forward with it. Though these will not necessarily be a cure we feel encouraged that they can possibly add more time for her. These treatments will be done one day a week for 3 weeks with one week off each month. They will take about 3 hours per visit. Both the treatments and the side effects should not be as harsh for her as the last ones were. The goal is that these two treatments will help reduce the pain and keep anything from spreading while maintaining a decent quality of life. After 2 months of treatments they will do a cat scan and see if they were helpful. If so she will continue doing them. There is no time frame as to how long she will do these treatments. It will depend on how her body responds and how she feels while doing them. The Dr was happy, and a bit surprised, that the tumor had not spread to her liver. This is a huge blessing. She will begin the treatments on Monday, December 8 but will only do it for two weeks so that she can enjoy Christmas and New Year’s for Lisa’s birthday. Thank you again for the love and support for our mom and our family during this time. We are truly grateful for each one of you.
