Last weekend, I watched Brave heart again because someone I know - TopicsExpress

Last weekend, I watched Brave heart again because someone I know in Dubai has always compared it to ‘Gladiator’ in equal terms, and I really want to be filled in for the historical accuracy stuff. I guess most of you have seen Braveheart, right? I have very specific spoiler type statements that the lovers of this film may not want to hear. And I’m certainly not here to piss on Mel Gibson’s winning of the Oscar in 1995. The first time I saw it, it kindled in me a great desire to find out more about the exciting characters and events presented in the film. The film inspired me to read the stories behind the film, stories I wouldn’t normally have been interested in. There is no doubt that Braveheart is a great film, probably among the best I have ever watched, and it’s so much appealing to those fighting for freedom anywhere in the world, a reason why I liked it. It was about a hero, someone who stood up for what was right. And the idea of fighting for freedom is hidden in the minds of all human beings somewhere. It sometimes just needs something like a movie to unlock it. It will be a good thing to share with all those fighting for freedom in Africa. In Brave Heart we learn that freedom is more important than life itself. That slavery is to be resisted even at risk of death. To readers of the Bible and Quran, it looks like that point was made earlier as well. semuwemba/2013/09/22/braveheartevery-man-dies-but-not-every-man-truly-lives/
