Last weeks BBC Panorama focused on Domestic Abuse and heavily featured a case study from the Isle of Wight. Hampshire Constabulary released this video on YouTube to run alongside the programme. Dawn Marmory has shown real courage in coming forward to talk about her experience of living in an abusive relationship. We know she is not on her own in suffering the effects of domestic abuse. I thank her for sharing her story so others are encouraged to come forward and get the support they need. I fully support the positive work Hampshire Constabulary is doing to improve outcome for victims of domestic abuse. I encourage innovative approaches that help protect victims and reduce any further stress and trauma when their case enters the criminal justice system, which can be hugely daunting and demanding. Through my commissioning work, I am working closely with partners who specialise in supporting victims of domestic abuse to improve services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, including funding community outreach services and independent domestic violence advocates (IDVAs).
