Last year, a friends relative passed away and I hadnt really been - TopicsExpress

Last year, a friends relative passed away and I hadnt really been around death that much. It got me to thinking about how different it is when a saved soul goes home. This poem was laid on my heart, so I wrote it out and I thought I shared it at the time, but since there have been several home goings around me this season, I wanted to share this again. I pray that it gives peace and comfort to those hurting. I love you guys and am praying for you daily! The Last Song Around her they gathered, her family one by one. They knew the end was coming, so a few had to run. Her eyes opened slightly, but in a voice strong and clear, She asked for her last request, a song she held so dear. At first, the room was silent, but then a single voice, Though, small and shaky, from there these words arose Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now Im found, was blind but now I see She thought for a moment and her eyes filled with tears. About the grace shed been given, throughout her many years. She, though undeserving, had known a love so great; Had known a surrounding mercy, so that now, embracing Jesus was her fate! Twas Grace that taught my heart to fear. And Grace, my fears relieved. How precious did that Grace appear The hour I first believed. The voice that had started was no longer alone. But now, several voices singing about the joy to come. Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come; Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far and Grace will lead me home The light around her seemed to dim, but ahead she saw a glow. She heard the voices getting louder, they reverberated through her soul. The Lord has promised good to me. His word, my hope secures. He will my shield and portion be, as long as life endures Her eyes started closing, her body letting go. But, the voices kept up their singing, not one singing low. Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess within the veil, A life of joy and peace. That glow became brighter, as she left this old world And as she opened her new eyes, she saw her Savior, her Lord! She cried out with joy and He held his arms wide. The embrace was sweet and tender, then he held her at His side. Only then did she realize, that the voices still sang. Humbly, she bowed with them and from her these words rang: When weve been here ten thousand years Bright shining as the sun! Weve no less days to sing Gods praise Than when weve first begun!
