Last year, one of the volunteers in the UK received a letter from a shoebox recipient in Belarus. He wrote, “When I was a child I received a gift box from you. I could not thank you then because I had no English. I now want to thank you- it was wonderful!” The volunteer and recipient continue to correspond on a regular basis. She was overjoyed at the reminder that children remember and appreciate the shoeboxes even years after they receive them.
