Late arriving into Birmingham Friday morning, but raced to my car - TopicsExpress

Late arriving into Birmingham Friday morning, but raced to my car to get to her. Wasn’t even out of the parking lot when my phone rang. “Good Morning, Baby!! How ya doing?” She knew I had been worried…hadn’t slept much after taking her to the Oncologist Monday before I left, and wasn’t there for the MRI on Thurs. to find out why her left side had become so weak. Assured her I was alert, doing great, and couldn’t wait to wrap my arms around her when I got home. Time…6 am! Every 30 min. she called to check on me, made me giggle, made sure I was awake. About 8:00am, I was going thru Atlanta traffic, and in her usual upbeat voice, called to check on me. Assured her I was fine, but in heavy traffic. If she didn’t mind, I’d talk her when I got home. “You bet, Baby! Can’t wait to hold you!”was her response. Her Oncologist had called at 7:33...results from her MRI were back…a “plum” sized tumor was growing on the right side of her brain…her lung cancer had metastasized! She wouldn’t tell me while I was driving, but rushed to pick up the report so we could go over it together before I got home. When I got home, she wasn’t here! Called her cel, and she told me she was at the Oncologist and had just picked up the report from her MRI…10 min. away. Assumed her Oncologist wanted to put her mind at ease for the weekend. Moments later, she arrived and gave me the news. We just held each other, tears falling, no words necessary. We’ve always understood the ‘probabilities’ associated with her cancer. Her every action is born of Faith…trusting in HIS plan for us! So…she embraces HIS message of love and does all she possibly can to make the road easier for everybody around her. No different than the way she was before her initial diagnosis 5 years ago…or the lady I married over 40 years ago! In my weakness, I struggle to find an explanation. She doesn’t. She embraces a belief in the overwhelming power of love! Still believes she was Chosen specifically for this journey. She lives her Life as a testament to HIS message and hopes it might inspire others to help find a cure and put a stop to what folks like her endure. Touch enough…inspire enough…we’ll find that cure. We’ll visit Emory Wednesday and find out what our next steps will be. Got no idea what the road ahead might look like, but I’m so happy that she chose to travel it with me.
