Latest high resolution models showing the intense area of low pressure arriving Sunday after dark. The storm system will be rapidly intensifying as it moves from the Mississippi Valley into the Great Lakes area. Up to 1 of rain will be possible along with very gusty winds. In fact, the models are showing wind speeds of over 70mph at around cloud level. While these winds will likely stay above the ground, some wind gusts of up to 50mph could be possible by early Monday as a cold front moves through. Wind Advisories may be issued if it becomes clearer that high winds could cause a problem. To be clear though, this is not like a derecho event and widespread wind damage is not expected. However if youve put up any holiday decorations early, you may want to make sure they are secure for the next 36 hours!
