Lay not up for yourselves treasures Upon earth,where moth and rust doth corrupt,and where thieves break through and Steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,where neither moth nor rust doth Corrupt and where thieves do not break through nor Steal. Matt 6:19&20 Some people have the idea that Contentment is a sign of Character weakness.They think that we must be ever striving for more and better of everything.But the word of God presents Contentment as a quality that a Christian should Pursue.Paul wrote to Timothy that Godliness with Contentment is great gain. Jesus is here laying the principle that our Primary goal should be to provide for the necessities of life,rather than accumulating material wealth.Hes trying to tell his disciples here that everything on earth has an expiry date.We can also see in the 34th verse not to worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will take care of itself. Jesus also said in verse 21 of this Chapter that For where your treasure is,there will your heart be also..Also its not possible to Serve two masters as youll have to serve one and leave the other..And the point here is that One easily get distracted or even carried away when One acquire too much! Apostle Paul said in Phil 4:13&14 that I have learned in whatever state i am,to be content: I know how to be abased,and i know how to abound. Our Challenge then,is to be content with the material things at our disposal,but ever striving for growth in our Spiritual Lives. Many Christians has lost focus and goals all in the name of acquiring earthly materials at the expense of their Salvation. The question now is: Are we Contended with what we have? Are we laying up Our treasures in heaven where thieves do not break through? NOTE:EARTHLY MATERIALS PERISHES WITH THE WORLD WHILE THAT WHICH YOU DO FOR GOD EXTEND TILL ETERNITY! PRAYER; MAY WE RECIEVE GRACE TO BE WISER THAN THE DEVIL SO THAT WE TAKE OUR HEAVENLY HOME MORE SERIOUS THAN THE EARTHLY ONE IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME.
