Laying Down the Burden of Resentment with Forgiveness When Umm Habeebah was in the last moments of her life she called for her co wife Aisha and made a request. She said, There was between us what normally occurs between co wives. But I ask you to forgive me for any wrong Ive done to you, and I will forgive you for any wrong youve done to me. Aisha forgave her and said, May Allah bring you happiness just as you have brought me happiness. Sometimes we hold on to resentment because it is the only tangible validation of our feelings. But resentment, much like anything else, has a price. And the price of resentment is that we begin to project the pain that we were caused on others. P.S. your heart is too precious to allow anyone (other than Allah) live in it rent free. Forgiveness is about you NOT about the other person. As Salamu Alaikum
