Leaves for S Arabia: Azad in Indian team led by Ansari KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 24: A high-level delegation led by Vice President Hamid Ansari has flown to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on behalf of Government of India, to offer condolences to King Salman on the sad demise of King Abdullah. The delegation, among others comprises Ghulam Nabi Azad, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, MoS, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, M J Akbar renowned journalist. While condoling the demise of King Abdullah, Azad said “It is very saddening and shocking, as the world has lost a visionary leader in the passing away of King Abdullah. He has transformed Saudi Arabia into a rapidly growing economy, characterized by modern and state of art infrastructure. “Late King Abdullah was a staunch advocate of strong and friendly relations with India and under his leadership, the two countries shared an excellent bonding,” said Azad adding that lakhs of Indian citizens were attracted towards Saudi Arabia for earning their livelihood due to the enabling policies pursued by late King Abdullah. The delegation led by Hamid Ansari will take an opportunity to meet King Salman to convey the condolences of Government of India and its people to the bereaved people and Royal Family of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Azad expressed hope that India-Saudi Arabia relations would grow to new heights under the leadership of King Salman, who as Defence Minister had taken numerous initiatives to strengthen bilateral relations.
