Left us on this day (Jan. 12) in 1983: Ghanaian percussionist Rebop Kwaku Baah (cerebral hemorrhage, age 39), best known in rock circles for his work with UK group Traffic from 1971-74 (appearing on albums Welcome to the Canteen, The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys, Shoot Out at the Fantasy Factory & On the Road); he also made significant contributions (1977-79) to German band CAN (Saw Delight, Out of Reach & Can) & played with Ginger Bakers Airforce, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Steve Windwood & Jim Capaldi; he counted four solo albums to his credit, beginning with the 1972 Rebop; he is one of musics warriors to have left us with his boots on - he died of a cerebral hemorrhage during a performance in Sweden in 1983 (where he had gone as part of Jimmy Cliffs touring band); his final album, Melodies in a Jungle Mans Head, was released in its unfinished state…
