I am also part of the Aha Moku O Wailuku, serving on the Water Committee. I am submitting my letter, in opposition, with Michelle Hoopii, of our Homestead, regarding the “ AMAC response to DOI in regards to their support of the ANPRM offered by the DOI in regards to governance.” (Your words.) Your original letter states that you represent, …“Those who practice Aha Moku are grassroots Hawaiian communities who are expert practitioners of different disciplines that are spiritually and physically connected to the land.” In this instance you have NOT enlisted the grassroots Hawaiian communities. I have not received any emails or phone calls from you about this issue, nor have I heard of anyone else on Maui receiving notice before your statement was issued. You have not solicited the support of the Aha Moku network among the Islands of Hawai’i, but, submitted your own opinion for the State Aha Moku Advisory Committee. You do not represent the whole of the Aha Moku system because you didn’t ask for our mana’o. Do you feel this is a responsible way to treat us? OHA has stated they should be neutral in their nation building presentations at their meetings, why is this not also your practice as Executive Director of AMAC, which is also a state agency?
