Leo is in his own room! I did not think this day would come. - TopicsExpress

Leo is in his own room! I did not think this day would come. The day where we felt Leo could safely sleep across the hall from us in his own room. His nursery ☺ When Leo was first born he did not sleep well in the basinet next to us. We tried this for several nights until putting him in his crib. He immediately began sleeping wonderfully. He stayed in his nursery for a month and a half. We moved his crib into our room when returning home from the hospital after our scare on Christmas Day when Leo stopped breathing. After we moved Leo into our room, and for a long time I wanted nothing to do with his nursery. I shut the door. If I had to go in there it was always very emotional for me. It represented the life we had “planned”. The life Leo was “supposed” to have. Eventually I was able to open the door and began using it for storage of his things. It was not until recently I ever thought Leo could return to his very own room. Leo does not sleep well very often. We never expect him to sleep through the night. He will always need care such as repositioning and turning throughout the night. It has taken a long time to get things right such as vent settings, the right diet, proper venting and a good mattress topper to feel like we are setting him up for a successful night. We have started thinking part of Leo not sleeping well is because he is sleeping right next to us. He wants us to stand next to him and hold his hand and rub his back all night. It is the sweetest thing in this whole world, and we love it. But Leo’s rest on his bipap is crucial for him to do well. He needs to be getting better rest at night so we are going to see how he does in his own room. We are so excited for him. We are so proud of him. The fact that we are doing this is amazing. He has come so far. We have come so far. Here we are setting up his nursery all over again! It is so exciting. But we are also so so sad. It is hard to look next to us and not see him. He has spent over 10 months of his life right beside us. I pray that we are making the right decision, and that this will be beneficial to Leo. If it backfires, we will just have to move him right back ☺ in, but we are hopeful that this will be a good thing. Thank you so much for your continued prayers for Leo. He has been a little fussy this week most likely related to teeth that are just taking forever to cut through. He is happy as can be and has a great time as long as he is outside! He had a great trip to the zoo yesterday and it was the best medicine he could have. He seemed to love his new room and was actually smiling! We have two monitors set up and he is not far at all. Thank you again for your prayers.
