Leonard The Swan... Today we have collected this poor swan from St Leonard Vets in Derby after he was brought in by a member of the public. He was found trapped in stock fencing along a river in Long Eaton and was struggling to get free. As a result of his struggle he has obtained superficial injuries to his right wing but we are concerned with how weak he is. We are unsure of how long he has been trapped but he is underweight for a juvenile of this age and is refusing to eat. This can be a sign of pain in birds so the veterinary surgeon has examined him and administered pain relief. We have given him antibiotics, a Vitamin B12 injection and administered Critical Care Formula via a crop tube. He is now settled down and is sleeping, so we hope we see an improvement overnight.
