Leslie Franklin Hughes Mar 12, 2014 Leslie Franklin Hughes, 72, a resident of Valley Mine Road, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at his residence. A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville by the Rev. John Wheeles and Terry McWilliams. Burial will be in Hughes Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the residence. He was born in Randolph County on Dec. 30, 1941, to Harvey Hughes and Eva Hopkins Hughes and was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in High Point and was former owner and operator of Valley Woodworking. He loved fishing and was a great family man. On Nov. 27, 1983, he was married to Veronica McWilliams. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Jeffrey Boan; and two brothers, Joe Hughes and Harold Hughes. Surviving are his wife of the home; two daughters, Eva Coggins of Thomasville and Brook Trantham and husband Josh of Lexington; two sons, Leslie Hughes II and wife Tonya of Thomasville and Dustin Hughes and fiancé Crystale of the home; six sisters, Doris Pullum of Thomasville, Janice Lanier and husband Horace of Lexington, Mary Hughes of Thomasville, Donna (Sissie) Freeman and husband Jerry of Lexington, Jean Everhart and husband Bobby of Thomasville and Lynn Shaw and husband Keith of Tyro; brother Donald (Bo) Hughes of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Casey Cranford and husband Adam, Donald Wingrove, Tara Hughes, Ryan Hughes, Dakota Trantham, Harley Trantham, Logan Hughes and Bayleigh Trantham; and great-grandson Blake Boan. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Rowan County, 720 Grove Street, Salisbury, NC 28144. Online condolences may be made to the family at jcgreenandsons.
