Less than two weeks before Nigeria’s Super Eagles slug it out with Congo Brazzaville in one of the qualifiers for the 2015 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, coach of the Congolese, Claude Le Roy, has boasted that Nigeria should forget victory when both teams play on 15 November. The French-born tactician, who has coached many African countries in the past and who has never loss a match against Nigeria, boasted that the Super Eagles will not smell victory when coach Stephen Keshi leads his team out to rescue their qualification for 2015 AFCON in Brazzaville. Le Roy stated that there was no way his wards will lose at home to Nigeria whom they defeated 3-2 when both teams met in Calabar few months ago. It would be recalled that Nigeria was shocked at home by the Congolese in their first match of the qualifiers. Since then, the Eagles have been able to manage two draws and a win against South Africa and Sudan. A record that has placed the African champions on the verge of not making it to the next edition of the championship. However, Le Roy, who was speaking on RFI on Sunday, was optimistic that Congo will beat Nigeria like they did in Calabar to guarantee their qualification for the biennial tournament. He said: “I’m sure that we shall qualify for next year’s Nations Cup because we are not going to lose at home to Nigeria. “I’m confident that we shall beat Nigeria, which will guarantee our place in next year’s tournament. “The magic for us was beating Nigeria in Calabar, that result was so crucial for us and we are not going to let our effort go in vain when Nigeria comes to Congo.” Meanwhile, the Nigerian team is expected to begin preparation for the crucial match against Congo on 9 November after Keshi released the list of invited players on Friday. South Africa tops the group with eight points. Congo has garnered seven points, while Nigeria has 4 points. Sudan is rocked bottom with a single point.
