Lesson 12 Conclusion "Speaking of dreaming, I want to challenge you to dream! First, name something you love to do, something personal, a passion you carry in your heart. Do you realize you just might be able to turn that “something personal” into “something professional” by doing a little night work? I know many women who have two professions—one by day and one by night. For instance, my mother was a Shakespearean scholar and teacher by day and a seamstress by night. As I grew up, she made all of my clothes, continuing to send me a package of newly sewn clothes every week I was away at college. Mom used her nights—often until two o’clock in the morning!—to sew all the curtains, throw pillows, dust ruffles, and pillow shams in our home. Her hands worked magic as she made all our bathrobes, even whimsically whipping up doll clothes for my “babies” and a Christmas coat for our dog! My mother lived out a lovely line of poetry that states, “A woman’s love is like a light, shining the brightest in the night.” I know others who also have two professions. One of my friends is a grade-school teacher by day and a gifted tole painter by night. Another is a school principal by day and a writer by night. Another friend is a mother of preschoolers by day and a master oil painter by night. Again I ask—and urge—you to consider how doing a little night work could help your dreams for your family, for your home, and for some personal creative outlet come true. How can you, like God’s beautiful woman, turn a personal passion into a professional line of work? Whisper a prayer to God, the Creator of all things beautiful, and ask Him to guide your heart—and hands—toward a little diligent night work that will help you realize your dreams."
