Lesson : GOD ALWAYS GIVES HOPE EVEN IN THE DARKEST HOUR. From the beginning of Ezekiels Ministry, GOD described him as His Watchman. As a Spiritual watchman, it was Ezekiels job to warn the people of coming judgement. Whereas the prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah gave national warnings, GOD commissioned Ezekiel to communicate of Individual obligation. Each person in Judah and in exile was responsible to trust and obey GOD regardless of the response of others around them. Immediately after Ezekiel has his vision of GOD and his glorious throne, the prophet begins to preach and predict the approaching seige and destruction of Jerusalem. The people who are captive in Babylon, stubbornly refuse to believe that GOD would destroy his city and Solomons temple. Many of the Jewish exiles in Babylon are hoping they will soon be able to return to Judah. Ezekiel is commissioned by GOD to proclaim the impending destruction of Jerusalem unless its inhabitants repent. Ezekiels message of destruction extends to the nations surrounding Judah as well. But they dare to mock GOD saying that Judahs destruction is the result of GODS inability to protect her. These nations will also experience the Wrath of GOD. After the fall of Jerusalem, Ezekiel preaching goes in a new direction. Now he proclaims the hope of restoration. GOD promises to restore Israel not only Physically to the land, but Spiritually as well. How would this be done? GOD would give the people a new heart and put his Spirit in them. What can we learn from Ezekiel? GOD is calling you to be his watchman. You have a responsibility to warn your Family, Friends and Coworkers of the consequence of living an unholy life. How they respond is up to them. GOD expects personal obedience. He desires that you present your body a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to GOD.GOD ALWAYS GIVE HOPE EVEN IN THE DARKEST HOUR. GOD has given you the resources in his Son, Jesus, that allow you to bear up and survive even the most intense sorrow and pain. There is help if you draw on his strength and power.
