Let me first acknowledge God for His bounteous blessings on me and my family. I also extent my gratification to Her Excellency President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for preferring me for the office of Principal Deputy Foreign Minister, which broadens my service to the Liberian people during this critical time. This is the third office entrusted to me by this administration within nine years, for which I am humbled. Meanwhile, as we jump the rung onto 2015, I wish to admonish us all to thank God for the blessings of life in view of the national health tragedy that slumped our country in 2014, leaving many casualties for which we still reel. As I humbly accept this responsibility, my guide would be the faces of hundred of thousands of our population anxiously waiting to be lifted from the scourge poverty. I am inspired by the knowledge that my contribution can kindle hope of a better future for our country in addressing national challenges such as illiteracy, hunger, sicknesses, unemployment, and injustice. This goal can certainly be achieved by supporting the President’s vision of a government that supports openness, inclusive growth and innovation necessary to incite national prosperity. There is no time for superficial solutions to pacify our problems, and there is no cheap and painless solution to ignorance, hunger, abject poverty and fear. It is about time that we sincerely trump politics by effective governance and development. I urge us all, as trustees of the people to exhibit the highest sincerity to ourselves, our nation, and to our God, if we are to gain public trust. As we turn up to work each day, I encourage us all to realize a sense of national urgency, bearing in mind that someone on whose behalf we stand may pass another night hopelessly. Today, we have an opportunity to serve as agents of change; the change this nation eagerly yearns. If we are going to succeed raising this population from the shackles of poverty, we first need to develop a positive attitude and discharge our duties with fairness, justice and impartiality, bearing in mind that the role we play is to benefit all and not just ourselves or a few. I move on to this new role with openness and anticipation, intoned to the President’s vision of a vibrant nation, steadily headed to a middle income society by 2030. As I accept this responsibility entrusted to me, I remain devoted to the proposition of integrity, impartiality, dedication, justice and compassion; all of which are indispensible to an inclusive and wholesome society. I wish you all a happy and prosperous new year. Thank you!
