Let us bow our heads as we bid adieu to the 2013 stream fishing - TopicsExpress

Let us bow our heads as we bid adieu to the 2013 stream fishing season which ended on the last day of September. We must await the coming of spring to once again test our wiles against the intrepid Brookie or Rainbow. Oh well, we still have the trout lakes to fish until the end of October. Also, as a reminder, Lake trout season also ended on September 30. I guess it’s Walleyes, Northerns, and Perch we fish now for the most part. People have started using the old fathead chubs again with reckless abandon so pick up a dozen or two and head out. I’m hearing stories about Homer, Lichen, Two Island and Poplar lakes. Hungry Jack and Seagull are producing a few as well. As far as grouse hunting goes, I’m seeing hunters on the road as well as hearing a lot of grousing from hunters about a lack of birds out there. Ya gotta get off the ATV’s people. Take a walk instead, if you can, you’ll see plenty of birds. I have and know others who agree. The birds are there. The only thing you’ll see on the roads are other orange- headed freakazoids scanning the edges for a morsel or two. “Please sir, can I have some more?” So go for a walk instead. It’s been a great autumn so far and even if you come home with nothing, you’ll at least have spent some quality time in the woods. What more can you ask?
