Lets celebrate Bhutan New Year for Kinzang, Sithar and all their family! LOSARis the traditional New Year according to the Bhutanese Lunar Calendar, based on the Tibetan calendar but not always the same. LOSAR is celebrated over the country, but most noticeably in the western part of the country. People put on new clothes, paint or clean their houses and celebrate with feasts. Many go to the temple or monasteries and make offering, raise prayer flags and pray for the good year. People get together, play traditional games such as the dha (archery), khuru (darts) and degoer (flat stone throwing), picnic, sing and dance and often there are cultural shows. During the Losar, if you are in the country, you will more than likely to be invited as the guest to the lcoalhome and join in the celebration. Losar 2014 government holidays dates are March 2-3.
