Lets cut to the chase because nothing I concoct with words can aptly describe last night if you werent there. From start to finish WCW had an electric vibe that definitely set the tone as we head into the Chicago Classic weekend. Allow me to brag/recap if you will, on just how magnificent last night was: - Once of the most talented dancers/instructors on the circuit taught two packed lessons. Luís Crespo, along with Jennifer Pasetes, you are one of the best. Your teaching style...phenomenal. Your willingness to dance all night with dancers at all levels...sets the bar for the rest of us. Your professional was evident in the overwhelmingly huge lessons you taught and in the tremendously positive comments on your lessons. I hope you both will stop by again soon. Oh, and let me say that I am going to do me best to get #newpartnernewhug #luiscrespo as part of the vocabulary. :) (Ask someone who attended the lessons what new parnter, new hug refers to.) - April Prince - you always play great music, but you--for lack of a more creative cliche--knocked it out of the park last night. The floors were filled all night and I believe we didnt shut down until after midnight--a testament to your DJ skills. - Benny Vonmur, Melissa Greene, Dave, Brian Arvans, Adam Sanborn, and the collective others I am forgetting--thanks for your help in setup and takedown. I couldnt have gotten the danced ready, or Galway back to normal, without you. Additional huge appreciation to you Melissa for not only being the door person for the night, but for bringing three of our out-of-town guests to the dance. Cheers to you! By the way, we had California, Montana, France and Russia at the dance. International love, indeed. :) - Kelly McBreen Wright - For not only coming back dancing on a semi-regular basis, but for getting your friend Angela Bray-Searcy and her daughter Jillian Jade Searcy addicted to the dance. Throw your wonderful mom Kathy Knebelsberger McBreen in the mix and you have a recipe for fun...and a bit of deviousness. :) - Lauryn Sperling - The Classic was going to be great already. You just made it better by being back in town. Thanks for catching me offguard when you showed up. And thanks for getting a couple of really nice pictures to give me a break. You are appreciated--and silly. Definitely silly! - Pamela Salotti - Thanks to you (and whoever may have helped) in bringing that delicious cake to celebrate Vita Baselski and Joyce Huggins birthdays. Hugs to all of you for just being you. - Rosa Passi and Carmen R Passi - A thank you is definitely in order. Even after one last attempt by winter to lay the smackdown on Chicago, you came up and spent time with Jennifer before the dance. I love when the dance family extends itself to non-dance events and this is a great example. Theres a multitude of reasons why I refer to you both as pillars of the west coast swing community in Chicago. :) - Certainly not least, but last in order of listings--the community. Wall-to-wall people. An overflowing parking lot. Lots of good cheer in the air. Everyone brought their A game last night: Ed, Rodney, Sarahmaria, Tony, Scott, Jean, Kristy, Ory, Raymond, Michael, Dee, Michael M., Jeff, Natalie, Peter, Kristin, Rose, Allison, Gina, Robert, Greg, Cindy, Colleen, Candace, Matt, Beth, Bethany, Nadia, Victoria, Thomas, Alisa, Tim, Steve, Beverly, Paul, Connie, Jake, Diane, Mary, Barbara, Don, Jen, Julie, Tim, Laurie, Mary, Sidney, Christine, Jason, Donna.....and everyone else who I am forgetting to tag. Virtual huge a@@ hug to everyone for your support on a regular basis. I think the world of all of you and the only thing negative I think I could say, is that I never get enough time to properly catch up with each of you or dance with everyone I would like to. Someday, Ill rectify that. For now, I must part. Its time to get ready for the Classic. I hope to see all of you there (so that maybe I can cash in on some of that catch-up and dance time). Until then.....take care my fellow troublema....I mean dancers!
