Letter to Flybe :- Mr. B. Burge, Director of Network, Flybe, Jack Walker House, Exeter International Airport, EXETER, Devon EX5 2HL 17th November 2014 Dear Mr. Burge, Re. Teesside (Durham Tees Valley) Airport I wrote to your Chief Executive Mr. Hammad on the 16th February this year about my concerns over the future of our local airport, Durham Tees Valley, and you kindly replied on the 3rd March, saying that the company had undergone a number of structural changes and that as it was now in a position to start growing you may be able to consider DTVA in your analyses. I note from a recent article in our local press that you are opening a twice-daily service from Newcastle to London Stansted in March next year. You have obviously considered the alternatives very carefully and have decided that DTVA is not an option in spite of its advantages such as the ease of road and rail transport links and a more central location for the population of the region. I am running a campaign through my Facebook page “SAVE Teesside Airport” and am trying to find out, amongst other things, why the airport is not attractive to low-cost airlines such as yourselves. I would be very grateful if you could let me know what made you decide to use Newcastle rather than Teesside. I will, of course, treat any reply in confidence if you prefer and if there are matters that you would rather discuss than commit to paper I would be pleased if you could give me a call. I am anxious to find out why our local airport has declined so rapidly and if there is anything that can be done to reverse this trend. Yours Sincerely, Please , please keep SHARING......approaching 5000 likes ! :-)
