Libby Martin, California, was named the 2014-15 State FFA 1st Vice President at the 86th Missouri FFA Convention. Her advisors are Adam Bieri, Dale Hodges and Lee Longan. Her parents are Ronnie and Lori Martin. Martin’s Supervised Agricultural Experience Program consists of a flock of Dorset-Hampshire sheep that she raises to show and sell as lambs at her local county fair. In addition to raising lambs, she is an assistant at a local veterinary clinic. Martin has served as president, vice president, co-secretary, and Greenhand president of the California FFA Chapter. She also was the reporter of the Area 8 FFA Association. She won third place in both the Missouri Fairs and Festivals and the Missouri Sheep Producers state public speaking contests. Martin also has been selected as her chapter’s Star Greenhand and has received leadership and scholarship awards. In high school, Martin was a student council representative, reporter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and a member of National Honor Society. She has participated in basketball, volleyball, track, chamber choir, DECA, Spanish club, Fellowship of Christian of Athletes, and Future Business Leaders of America. She is active in her church choir and youth group, helps with Bible school and is the Sunday school teacher for grades K-3. She also has volunteered in many community service projects locally and across the state. Martin plans to study biology at the University of Missouri and participate in the AgScholars program. She hopes to attend the MU School of Veterinary Medicine and become a veterinarian. The Missouri FFA has 25,852 members representing 334 chapters. The national organization has more than 579,000 members representing 7,570 local chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
