Wait till Farages U£KP say that The draining effect on our domestic economy is made worse by health tourism. So rather than let bigotry and prejudice provide us with facts what Is the truth? The Department of Health [DoH], after much prompting, conducted an audit to put a figure on how much health tourism costs the NHS when it was widely claimed to be £2bn. The DoH estimates that health tourists cost the NHS between £70m and £300m. And perhaps unsurprisingly, its considerably closer to £12m than it is £2bn. The total cost the NHS is over £102 billion and health tourism makes up less than, at worst 0.05% and at best less than 0.01% but stretched to the enormous figure of £2bn by screeching xenophobia.
