Life Update: Im significantly better than I was a few days ago. My ears have stopped hurting (they werent infected, just full of fluid) and my sore throat, the last remaining symptom, is pretty mild and on the mend. I must take a moment to say that I will never again go to the CVS minute clinic, and here is why. First of all, I found out that my insurance doesnt cover non-OSU clinics in Franklin county. All other counties I can see anyone I want, but not this one....thanks OSU. The real regret from the visit came later though, when I tried to apply some of the doctors symptom relief techniques while we waited for a culture to be grown from my throat swab (which still isnt back....they said it would be here 2 days ago). Technique 1 - mix this prescribed numbing liquid with water and gargle. The first problem is that the goop and water werent miscible, the water just sorta sat on top, and the second problem was that the stuff tasted nasty, like if cyborgs had boogers, nasty plasticy boogers. I do know it works though, as the tip of my tongue went numb, but do to its slow progress the goop got nowhere near my deep throat regions before I gagged on the taste. Technique 2 was to take 2 advil every 3 hours, which is a little more than recommended dosage but Ive always been told advil are really safe, and this doctor recommended it. I woke up the next morning in horrible pain, as I ran to the bathroom holding my stomach, pondering What did I eat?? it dawned on my that Id eaten quite a bit of Advil the day before. I panicked a little, since the warning label says stomach bleeding can occur, but after about 20 minutes of misery I left the restroom feeling okay and having seen no signs of stomach bleeding. At that point I decided to drop all of the doctors advice and just drink lots of milk, because its very soothing. A new medical issue may be at hand though (gosh I sound like an old person). I found a few red spots on my hands and feet, which I disregarded yesterday as blisters due to their locations, but a few more appeared in the night, including on the back on my hand, and I have 0 reason to develop a blister there. I think something is biting me in my sleep, therefore, this weekend Im going to do a lot of cleaning and a lot of laundry. Also, I would be pissed at OSU if I moved into a room where the mattress was already full of bedbugs, but Im optimistic that its probably a spider instead, which is creepier but also easier to exterminate. Speaking of spiders, I have 2 giant ones that live outside my window. I really want them dead but I live on the 9th floor and Im not sure if my window even opens. Campus stuff is going well though. I havent been given any homework sets so Im a little unsure what to do with myself right now. Maybe during the cleaning-pocalypse Ill read some of my textbooks. Also, my schedule allows me to sleep in till 1 on Fridays!!!! I had a delightful morning of napping and House Hunters. This might give you an idea of my sleep patterns. I woke up this morning well rested and checked the time: 8:49. I immediately freaked out, thinking I had missed all my classes, missed by whole day in fact, and had work in 2 hours. Then I decided to double check with my alarm clock app, to find out that was am, not pm, and that I havent naturally woken up this early in ages. I managed to stab myself in the eye with the corner of my pillow....skills. My friends and I plan to watch the lego movie tonight. 2 or 3 of them havent seen it. I have, so Ill probably play minecraft in the corner and sing along with the characters when the time comes.
