Life has hit me so hard that it has caused me to question everything I ever believed. Its made me physically sick at the thought of repeating a mistake. It has made me so despondent I didnt want to move, speak, or feel. It has made me erect walls to keep people out only to find these walls had become a prison. It has made me ache from the inside out in places that couldnt be touched and left me broken and lying on the ground. It has made me utterly alone and abandoned....and yet I am thankful, all the hurt, pain, and suffering has taught me to appreciate the gift of family, friendship, and community. It has taught me the meaninglessness of trivial matters and to cherish simple things. Most of all it has taught me the tremendous capacity of the human spirit to heal itself...with time. And it reminds me that my words and deeds have weight. I can never truly fathom the storms raging behind the eyes and in the hearts of the people who cross my path or the wounded spirits behind smiling faces. I treasure those who helped me heal without knowing it, who picked me up without knowing it. It has taught me that we are most helpful when not knowing it.
