Lights- Gone are the days where lights were know better then an average torch and lasted for 20mins before the beam would begin to go dull. These days lights can be almost as bright as a cars. Bike light brightness is expressed in lumens. The higher the lumens the brighter the light. Front Lights; Choose a light so you can see and be seen. A front light between 300 to 500 lumens with multiple settings i.e. from bright through to flash will do for road riding. For mountain biking in the bush you may wish to consider 900 lumens or higher with a helmet mount. Rear lights; You want a rear light that last the distance for multiple rides. I like a light that has a magnified led so you can be seen easily by traffic behind. A dull rear light may cause a driver to think you are further away then what you really are, so make sure you charge or replace your batteries Lights are life savers! Make sure you always ride at night with lights. Safe riding
