Like every other sports junkie kid growing up in America over the past 20 years or so, I probably watched SportsCenter twice a day, just about every day for as long as I can remember. Nobody did it better than Stuart Scott. In spite of the roughly 20,000 hours Ive spent watching highlights with him over the years, in spite of all the SportsCenter commercials, in spite of all his trademark catchphrases, the most enduring memories I will have are the courage, dignity, grace, and selflessness he showed over the last 6 months of his life. There have been a million heavy-hearted posts, tweets, comments, etc. shared commemorating and remembering him already (and theyll continue to flow in over the next couple days) so there is hardly anything to say that hasnt been said or thought already. But whoever sees this post, take a couple minutes to watch the video below and think about this guy. Think about how he lived his life and how he handled the circumstances that life dealt him - circumstances that most of us couldnt even imagine. Next time youre having a bad day, next time youre in a fight with a friend, brother, sister, or parent, next time you think your problems are real problems in the grand scheme of things, stop and think about Stuart Scott. Think about what he and his family and friends have been through, and how he carried himself through it all. Think about the love and compassion he showed to others around him while he was fighting for his life. Take whatever youre dealing with, put it into perspective, and lend a kind word or small act of support or compassion someone around you who is might need it. Taken too soon, but like Jimmy V, Arthur Ashe, and countless others, not soon forgotten. Fighting is winning. -Stuart Scott
