Like some physicists and scientists believe, time as a dimension doesn’t have any actual starting or ending points, it just is and will continue to be in every possible way. Still sometimes from our points of view it all seems to flow either painfully slow or way too fast. Quite a ride it has been with Syke.FM too with all these seven (!) years, which -really- seem like yesterday now.. from the birth of an idea for the best possible trance radio station, coming up with the working concept among good friends and making great personal efforts and sacrifices to harvest the necessary technical means for us to broadcast our “view of the world” by musical terms including a large amount of ‘heart’ and ‘soul’ encoded in the chords and melodies. A fun and experimental radio project was started between mates to first answer our own needs for the best trance music and then a little later expanded into the public realm for others to enjoy too. Despite of countless new trance tracks being released in the world with a growing pace we’ve always felt we’d spot “the diamonds from the rocks” and the world seemed to agree. All of our working action was driven by the firm belief that a laser-focused mind could move mountains so to speak and wouldn’t necessarily require any previous education or formal training in the subject if the will was strong and determined enough to succeed. We’d never done anything related to radios before Syke.FM but we were technical savvy and super-determined to learn so there was no stopping. We loved trance music so much that we felt the need to globally share that warm feeling a great trance track or mix set can give - that bursting sensation in your chest or that major head rush that makes you drive your car faster than you normally would. Syke.FM was in a way a true definition of an electronic “hand-in-hand circle” where everyone is invited as we never charged a penny from any listener in addition of not spoiling the listening experiences with boring advertisements. The listener, including ourselves, is -everything-. He/she has to be. In that sense we probably could be called ‘trance-hippies’ or something as it was all “for us” - not just “from us to everybody else.” Who would’ve guessed it - not ourselves that’s for sure - that just a few years after the beginning of Syke.FM we’d already reached hundreds of thousands of souls across our great planet and had successfully served them with the most energetic and emotionally charged piece of electronic music called trance we could ever come up with, we’d be approached from countless of different countries saying the most beautiful things, we’d built our station’s DJ lineup from scratch to a worldwide headlining bomb squad, our website got hackered down by web traffic originated from the Far East and we endured, we beat every obstacle and continued the music like nothing happened. To keep great things great and timeless, Syke.FM will thus fade into the background noise on 17th November 2014 23:59 Finnish time (EET) to think about it’s role in the future. The following game plan is open and we don’t know yet if we will continue Syke.FM ourselves or if some other fresh party would take the station and wheel from here. The playlists won’t be timed or regulated in any way during this time as this is in a way our last moment (for now) to be spontaneous and playful. Let’s have FUN and remember the good times. Let’s support each others and encourage our visions whatever we do. Never let a brother or sister walk alone without the feeling of being believed in. Anything is really possible - and we just proved it by our own hands. Lastly, as space wormholes are not yet suitable for human usage, a great radio station could just be the closest thing to that for the time being as it can take us away from our worlds into somewhere else if just for a few very special seconds. :) Everything will work out if you use your imagination and never grow up.
