Linked In Devotion Day 21: Godly wisdom versus worldly wisdom Ephesians 5:1-2: ”Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Those who follow Christ are called to live according to His way and His wisdom. The wisdom of God, however, is often completely contrary to human wisdom. The way of the world is self-serving and self-promoting but the way of God is one of self-sacrifice and surrender. According to the wisdom of God we must be last in order to be first, be empty in order to be filled, give to get, serve to lead and die to really live (Luke 13:30, Matthew 5:6, Luke 6:38, Luke 9:24). Living by God’s wisdom requires us to love those we would rather hate, to include those we would rather exclude and to daily die to self. It is a wisdom that lives, not according to what we can see, but what we believe (2 Corinthians 5:7). Living according to the wisdom of God usually seems counter-intuitive to us and our sinful nature. Therefore, we must allow Him to transform our minds and hearts and align us with His Spirit as He teaches us, day by day, to live wisely and right.
