The show featured a long and varied set of impassioned, expertly executed Rolling Stones covers as only the Mule can deliver, with special guests Jackie Greene (Phil Lesh & Friends, Black Crowes, Trigger Hippy) ans saxophonist Steve Elson (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Radiohead, David Bowie). The songs on Vol. 1 are newly edited and mastered, with the vinyl lacquers cut from the old Stax Records lathe in Memphis. TRACK LISTING: “Under My Thumb”, “Monkey Man”, “DooDooDooDooDoo (Heartbreaker)”, “Paint it Black”, “Angie”, “Ventilator Blues”, “Shattered” “Stoned Side of the Mule: Volume 1” is due on Nov. 28 for the Black Friday 2014 version of Record Store Day. It’s the first of four live releases Gov’t Mule plans to release over the next several months. The Pink Floyd covers collection “Dark Side of the Mule” is due Dec. 15. “SCO-MULE,” a three-hour jazz-rock instrumental album recorded when Gov’t Mule played with John Scofield in 1999, is due in January.
