“Listen to this! Behold, the sower went out to sow; as he was - TopicsExpress

“Listen to this! Behold, the sower went out to sow; as he was sowing, some seed fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate it up. Other seed fell on the rocky ground where it did not have much soil; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of soil. And after the sun had risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. Other seed fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked it, and it yielded no crop. Other seeds fell into the good soil, and as they grew up and increased, they yielded a crop and produced thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.” And He was saying, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” Mark 4:3-9 (NASB) Jesus opens this parable by saying “Listen to this!” While He closes it with, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” This denotes the essential need for a teachable, hearing heart to be present if the “seed” of the kingdom truth is to be received and become fruitful. The hearing Jesus was from His listeners is not the same we use when we listen to background music or when someone starts to tell a long story we have previously heard. “To truly “hear” Jesus’ words is to believe them, to use the immediately in decisions and attitudes, and to base our life on them. We are to apply them in work, recreation, family plans, and money matters, praying and singing. If we are to truly hear Jesus’ words we are to make Him the true Lord of our life. What is Jesus saying to you? In this parable we find that all the seeds did not bring the same results. I have heard many people after a teaching or sermon come and tell me what I was trying to teach. I soon found out God is talking to them through the Holy Spirit while I am either teaching or preaching as each person will receive it differently as each one is a different soil living in a different environment.
