Xi Jinping, who is in India, can learn many things from them. Sooner or later you have to solve problems not by force but by talks and understanding, he said. The Dalai Lama who has been living in India, was asked to reschedule an event in the capital so that it would not clash with Xis विसिट. However there were massive protests outside Hyderabad House, where Xi was holding talks with PM Modi. At least eight Tibetan protesters were detained as they were marching towards the Taj Palace Hotel where the Chinese president is staying, said a police officer. Apart from protests at the Dhaula Khan area, scores of Tibetans staged a vociferous protest and clashed with police outside Hyderabad House, the venue for the bilateral talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 12.39 pm: Narendra Modi brings up border incursions with Xi Jinping Sources from the MEA have said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought up border issues with China President Xi Jinping during discussions that went on in Hyderabad House. Although the extent of the talks and what the outcome of them will be is unclear, sources from inside the meeting have told media that the talks had been comprehensive and very extensive. The discussions between the two leaders had also gone on for much longer than was anticipated. It remains to be seen whether Chinese troops will now pull back from Ladakh, where troops made a massive incursion overnight into Indian territory. 11.50 am: Modi-Xi discussions begin, border incursions on talks agenda Discussions have begun between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Hyderabad house in Delhi. Border incursions are expected to be discussed. Yesterday, these issues were already raised at the highest level between PM Modi and President Xi. All issues of substance will also be raised today including recent issues. We will tell you the outcome once those discussions are done, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said earlier this morning. At least 1,000 Chinese army troops have entered Indian territory since early Wednesday morning forcing Indias National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to personally monitor developments along the border. India rushed troops to the area and both sides were indulging in repeated banner drill, sources told PTI. A Brigadier-level flag meeting, second within a week, was held in Chushul, where the issue of intrusion of Chinese troops in Chumar and civilian intrusion in the Demchok area was discussed, sources said. Chumar, located more than 300 kms Northeast of Leh and bordering Himachal Pradesh, has been a flash point between the two sides with Chinese making several attempts to end Indias dominance in the area. Meanwhile police have been whisking away Tibetan nationals who are protesting outside Hyderabad house. The protestors are being whisked away in buses. The security around Hyderabad house is extremely tight, with a heavy police presence on the ground.
