Living by the Spirit-- TEXT: Gal. 5:24-25 INTRODUCTION: The world has chosen to live by the flesh but God wants us to live by the Spirit! It’s not some mysterious inner voice but it is to allow God’s Word to shape your inner-voice. 1) Individuals—Follow Jesus with your mind, heart and body (Eph. 4) We need to live by the Spirit! 2) Family—Be a spouse, parent or child by the Spirit! (Eph. 5-6) Our family needs to live by the Spirit! 3) Church—let’s stick to the pattern! (Eph. 4; John 4:24; I Tim. 1:9; I Cor. 4:17) Our devotion toward God and service toward needs to live by the Spirit! Have you been living by the flesh? Have you been seeking earthly things or heavenly things? Let us spend more time and effort seeking heavenly things and reap the abundant harvest of blessings God will give us (Matt. 6:33; Eph. 1:3). Have you considered your heavenly reward? No one can take it away from you but you can leave it and fall away from it (Gal. 1:5; Heb. 6:5). If you haven’t obeyed the Gospel, Jesus was crucified for you! He was buried and rose again and is at the right hand of God, He will judge you, obey Him today! If you have, hold fast to the teaching and reward today! (II Thess. 1:4-9; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38). Remember that with the flesh as your focus you will die in sin, without hope! Your spirit following the Spirit’s Message will give you life and peace (Rom. 8:5; 12-14)! With life and peace walk by the Spirit!
