Local businesses and residents are declaring 2014 a good year for Grand Lake. “Yes, we’ve had our bad years,” said Donna Grube, director of the Auglaize and Mercer Counties Convention and Visitors Bureau. “But this year, we’ve had a good one. As a matter of fact, our lodging tax was up significantly. We’re up 12 percent over last year. I call that a very good year.” Grube said year-end figures are not yet available but she’s optimistic. Tourism dollars last year were $48.6 million, up from $44.5 million in 2012.
