Location: District Institute for Education and Training (DIET) of selected districts in Chhattisgarh The Subject Expert will function as a team member of the School and Teacher Education Reform programme of the ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth in collaboration with the Government of Chhattisgarh in 4 DIETs of Chhattisgarh. The Subject Expert will be responsible to manage the district and school level work through the DIET office for effective programme implementation. Major responsibilities will include the following: Support textbook writing and lesson planning Preparation of annual academic plan of DIET and for schools Preparation of training module for content enrichment Organise training and workshop among the DIETs , Block Resource Centres (BRCs), Cluster Resource Centres (CRCs) and School Head Masters Develop creative teaching learning processes from the context and organise math mela, science mela etc. Help in creation of culturally responsive classrooms in their own subject area. Coordination between Unit of School and Teacher Education (USTE) and DIET Conduct teaching classes up to Elementary level, for both teachers as well as the Students of Primary and Upper Primary levels, in tune with NCF 2005 and RtE 2009, using appropriate Teaching Learning Material (TLM) To develop and demonstrate the contextual TLM from within the immediate environment of children. To evaluate content and process of the school text To substantially contribute in Teacher Education, Curriculum Development and Textbook Development in their own subject areas To diagnose issues and challenges in their localities and accordingly plan creatively to resolve the issues To create a resource pool of resource persons of his own subject area from DIET and schools To provide expertise in programme evaluation and research in the context of Comprehensive and Continuous Evaluation (CCE) To ensure equitable quality education, address gender sensitivity and inclusive education in the context of RtE-2009 Other requirements: At least 3-5 years professional work experience in the field of education. Teaching / work experience with NGO will be an added advantage Knowledge of provisions under the NCF 2005 and RtE Act 2009 Good communication skills in spoken and written English and Hindi are essential to manage multiple institutional relationships and stakeholders Working knowledge of computers Willingness to travel to the block and villages on regular basis
