Locke Written and Directed by Stephen Knight who wrote the script for the masterful Eastern Promises misfires here. The film suffered from pokey pacing and meandering verbose dialogue that consisted of Tom Hardy driving in a car for 85 minutes dealing with an unwanted pregnancy from his mistress and other business deals. I found the film very monotonous, meandering and disengaging. I was relieved when the car ride was over. Im all for cinematic experiments like Gus Van Sants Gerry for instance, yet at least that gives audiences hypnotic imagery and lush sounds. Watching Hardy drive around a car for 85 mins or so is trying to endure. Its beyond me why critics are hailing this as some type of strong film, yet are panning the exhilarating and exciting Godzilla reboot.
