Long day today. My class went well then I was asked to sub at a school in Hayward. That went well but put me on the freeway at rush hour. Got home and the electrician was working on the kitchen so my nap was interrupted with noises from the kitchen that reminded me that there are some very practical skills that I am lacking. Finally he was done and left. I realized that the temperature outside was perfect. One of my favorite places is this old old couch on the porch. It is weather beaten wood framed with brown cushions that are stitched in a nautical theme. This weekend Ive been invited to sit in with a couple of musicians who will be playing at Clay Creations on the edge of Fogfest and Ive been looking forward to it. I played last week and noticed that my calluses had become a little tender so I figured Id better work on them and practice a little. So I got an acoustic guitar, a fresh cup of coffee, sat down on the couch and started to play. Steel Guitar Rag, one of the requested pieces went well as did Saint Louis Woman. I tried some transposing and found that I was real rusty there. I then did Ghost Riders. I guess I was playing a little loud because my neighbor heard me and called over the fence saying that I sounded pretty good. He didnt ask me to tone it down so I figured he really meant it and wasnt just being polite. Denise walked up as I was strumming. She had a funny look on her face. I figured something must be wrong. Maybe I was out of tune, playing the wrong chords or was messing up the rhythm. Denise, Luna had an accident this morning. Luna is our elderly dog. I had just seen her and she seemed fine. Whats wrong with her? Nothing. She just stepped in fresh dog pooh this morning. Yuck. Yah. Then she got up on the couch. This couch? That couch. Where Im sitting? Yep. So, now Im in the living room waiting for the washer finish so I can put my stuff in the dryer. Hows your day?
