Long distance world records often means the crossing of oceans or countries where war or military conflicts are taking place. These are always difficult passages. For Touareg CapetoCape, we had to choose our route carefully, as there are Syria and Libya which are facing inner conflicts. Also, both countries cant be bypassed with a car. To avoid any serious problems for the team, we decided to charter a plane to fly the Touareg and team over the Mediterranean Sea from Turkey to Egypt for our world record drive. As for all logistical issues on our world record drives, we can count on our partner Kühne+Nagel, which has been working with us since 2005. Kühne+Nagel are not only supporting us by organizing a plane or a container big enough to get our Touareg from one continent to another, but also at the borders with sometimes complex paper work procedures. During our scouttour in May/June Kühne+Nagel employees waited for us, sometimes until late at night, to get us over some borders and organized a charter plane for us, so we could cross the Mediterranean Sea. Special thanks go to Marjan Bielic from Kühne+Nagel´s office in Capetown, who supported us massively during our scout tour and also works behind the scenes for our world record drive.
