Long serving author Mr. J.J Sankqela and new coming author Mr. T. Mhlongo led the delegation of the district to the National Festival that is held at Grahamstown. The festival started on the 05-11 July 2014. Department of Sports, Arts, Recreation and Culture was the lead department on organising the event of praise singers and authors of the Province of the Eastern Cape under one roof. Mr. Sankqela and Mr. Mhlongo launched their new books (Umntu akalahlwa by Mr. Sankqela and Ulwamvila Lwempindezelo by Mr Mhlongo). The book, Umntu akalahlwa was published by Via Afrika publishers in Cape Town. This book serves as an educational material at grade 09 classes in the country. This book came on curriculum level this year 2014. Mr. Sankqela was one of his seven books and even the previous books also serves as an assistance tool to improve the levels of novels at schools. Ulwamvila Lwempindezelo by Mr. Mhlongo was published by Shuter and Shooter company. Mr Mhlongo was his first book and will be used by grade 12 and tertiary level. Authors and praise singers join the streets of Grahamstown showing their talent, praising and encourage upcoming generation to express their feelings to fight the ill-discipline of human nature through writing books as this can pave the way of brighter future of kids at schools. Joy covers the face of the emerging author Ms. Vuyokazi Landa who hails from Brooksnek from ANDM by getting the platform of doing her presentation for her upcoming book called the Layers of Life. The purpose of these sessions is to improve and sustain the level authors and praise singers within the province of the Eastern Cape. MEC of Department of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture Pemmy Majodina bow her head to the authors and praise singers about their effort they put on retaining the dignity and role played by our older generation that showed humanity amongst others. She further made a plea to authors to have books that talk to the background of this country and how the freedom we enjoying today how it came. This was the 40 years of celebrations for this programme but 20 years of it was meant for certain tribe while the majority have to hide their feelings and concerns of our geographical human nature, said Majodina
