Long status alert! Only relevant if you were seeing what I said yesterday: No, I was wrong yesterday. Very very wrong. I didnt read enough/think and I jumped to the wrong conclusions. I still freedom of speech comes with responsibility and I dont satirists shouldnt ever be criticised- but that was the wrong time to be making that point. Theres varying opinions as to whether it was unnecessary trolling or not I dont really know because I dont follow the magazine but I understand now they were lefty activists and criticised all religions. But some say the magazine took a specifically anti-Islamic turn and also they backed the banning the niqab thing which to me is a totally out of order although I appreciate that not everyone that thinks it should be banned is a racist- just dangerously wrong IMO. I wasnt thinking the CH guys were racist though, I was just thinking its a bit rich for us to be baiting people who have gone through things we cant really understand, in part because of brutal regimes that the west supports, and because of our foreign policies. If you get what I mean. And I think thats probably what will self was getting at, but really at this time the emphasis should be more on solidarity with the victims of the awful attacks in France rather than trying to pick the thing apart.
