Looking back at the European championships in Denmark, Sept ‘14 - TopicsExpress

Looking back at the European championships in Denmark, Sept ‘14 … I want to start by showing my gratitude to the Danish team for the fantastic organization, and for taking special care of our wheelchair karatekas, participating for the first time in a European championship. Secondly, and obviously very important for me, I’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ to whole Belgium team, because participating successfully in such an amazing event is only possible when we all work together. It is not about the medals but about changing perspectives. About bringing a new field of possibilities to our karate community, and about changing people’s mind. All this, by showing the big range of opportunities karate can bring to all of us. The following is not in a particular order, because I am proud of all of you! *Thank you, and congratulations to Patrick Stienaers St, Frank Vangeyt, Jaime Fernandez-Gonzalez Fern, Francis Swerts and Geert Smeets for taking the ‘risk’ of travelling to another country with us and to share your karate experience with the rest of the world. *Thank you, nurse An Bynens for taking so good care of our team. *Thank you, Niki Vandereyt for bringing an impressive, eye-opening demonstration. *Thank you, Kenny Koninx K, Christos Pistolas , Robin Quanten Q, Maarten Pollaris and Niki Vandereyt to compeed actively and on top, to help us to create an unforgettable experience for the whole team. *Thank you, Jo Pollaris for coaching our team and for being there, with us all, every moment of the journey. *Thank you, Peter Bynens, Julio Fernandez and Peter Quanten for all the support and back-up, because we would never have been able to realize it without you. *Thank you, Koen Spitaels from Kyokushinkai, and your team, to be there and support us all.
