Looking for a new DofE challenge? OA Wokingham Borough Council is looking to recruit a DofE Co-ordinator and a P/T Assistant Youth Support Worker! Both based at Wokingham Youth Centre, the posts are in the Targeted Youth Support Service. Co-ordinator post: You will need to be organised with good communication skills, have substantial experience of working with young people in an informal setting and relevant experience and qualification in the outdoors including a Basic Expedition Leadership (BEL) Award or equivalent qualification. You will be working two evenings a week on a Tuesday (in Wokingham) and Thursday (in Twyford) and will be required to work a minimum of 8 weekends per year for expeditions and day walks. You will need to be flexible and may on occasion be required to work during the daytime. In addition, you will be required to attend relevant training, team meetings and meetings with your line manager. Youth Support post: You will need good communication skills and be able to relate to young people aged 14-25 years. An interest and ability to work in outdoor education with young people is essential. Outdoor education qualifications such as the Basic Expedition Leaders Award (BEL) or Mountain Leaders Award (ML) are highly desired or a willingness to undertake this in own time is essential. You will be working one evening a week on a Tuesday as part of a team to deliver training and support to young people, in particular for the expedition section of the Award. You will also be required to work a minimum of 8 weekends each year to support the supervision of expeditions.
