Looking for a roommate in New York City. Can move in Aug. 1, maybe sooner. 2 bedroom apartment in South Bronx. Neighborhood is mostly black and Dominican, its ok; it is not gentrified. Supermarket and stores a block away, along with bus to the subway, 10 minute ride. It takes an hour to get to midtown Manhattan. I am a 53-year old male writer, youthful but mature. Many of my short essays are on my Facebook page. I like film (mostly foreign), literature, European philosophy and social and cultural theory. I am on the left but am a writer and not an activist. I work as an editor for my company and work at home. I am quiet. I speak French as well as English. I am Jewish, from Los Angeles, New Yorker by adoption, educated at pretty good universities in the United States and France, where I studied literature and philosophy. I have had both male and female roommates. Everyone says I am a nice and interesting person. Rent is $650/month + 1 month deposit to move in. Room is about 12 x 12, living room is nice and decent sized, still unfurnished, but it will be. Im responsible but not a neat freak; you should be likewise. Rent stabilized so rent will not change much and I will be here for a while. I want to rent to someone whose occasional company I enjoy, who is a good person and not a jerk, and who can pay the rent. We dont have to be like each other, but do have to like each other. The only things are hated are injustice and boredom.
