Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing. (Titus 2:13.) O Hope divine! Illumine thou this heart of mine; Thou harbinger of coming day, Come, drive the gloom of night away, Sing to my soul some blessed lay— Thy joy enshrine: Let me look through thy gates ajar, And catch the light that gleams afar, Break forth, Thou glorious Morning Star, And shine. THIS is a sad and gloomy world to those who have no hope. He who is shorn of heavenly hope, is shorn of light and joy. Hope is the inspirational in life; hope is the lamp that shines in the dark place until the day dawn. It is the bright and morning star. It is the Sun rising with healing in His wings. He who would rob the church of that Blessed Hope of Christs glorious appearing would leave the people of God shrouded in impenetrable darkness, a darkness that now veils the earth with gloom. Since Christ, the light of the world, went to be with the Father, it has been night upon the earth. That night is now far spent. As the time draws nigh for the morning, the darkness deepens. World conditions are growing worse and worse; wars and rumors of wars fill the air. Immorality and unrighteousness rule the hour. Thank God, that in the present darkness, hope looks ahead and sees the dawning of a new day, it sees Christ coming in power and glory. What darkness shrouds our path around, What gloominess and sin abound, Without the Blessed Hope: What peace and rest along the way Both guards and keeps us through the day When shines the Blessed Hope: Let all who mourn, and all who fear, Lift up their heads, the Comings near; O, blessed is the Hope!
