Looking through some previous posts and wanted to share this again, thanks so very much Tania!!! A beautiful endorsement from one parent on Share-A-Story: the Young Readers Group... "Stories transport readers to magical places, teach lessons, and build camaraderie. But not every child comes to reading easily. My youngest daughter was recently diagnosed with a learning disability due to a processing delay and was prescribed computer software to scan text and read it back to her. Having the text read aloud removes the pressure and allows her to absorb information more easily. And getting information is the end goal of reading. My daughter’s struggle with reading not only affects her learning, it has turned story time into a chore. And observing other children come to reading so effortlessly has wreaked havoc on her self-esteem. The Share-a-Story program is perfect for children like my daughter as it empowers children by addressing the challenges that so often discourage struggling readers. I hope educators take notice and recommend the program to parents of children with learning disabilities in reading. Share-a-Story is designed for children at all reading levels and I’d like to see the program expand so all of Canada’s children can benefit." ~Signed, a parent eager to see Share-a-Story grow. Thank you Tania...
