Looks like Pakistan will go from being ruled by halfwits who take half measures to being ruled by full wits who take no measures. Looks like the current rulers who point guns loaded with real bullets will be replaced by those pointing guns loaded with blanks. Looks like the empty promises of prosperity will be replaced by preposterous promises leading to emptiness. Looks like the illusion of reality will be replaced by the reality of illusion. And looks like life will go grinding on and on and on for us millions of minions. But through it all the resilience, stamina and faith of Pakistanis will march on. Those in caravans are hoping to see the Promised Land, those holding their breaths are waiting for the storm to blow over, and those sitting on the fences are wishing for this nightmare to end. Soon all will unite and undo the machinations plotted by enemies of the nation. Soon all commoners will repossess their souls, take back their independence and drive out the ambitious and the greedy. They will drive out the egotists and the arrogant. Soon they will stop looking for the messiah and chase away the masonic mess owners. Soon the glib, shrewd and clever will be driven out by the simple and the ordinary working in bazaars, on farms and in factories; soon the shallow and the superficial demagogues will stumble from their pulpits. Soon and yet still not soon enough the ordinary shall reclaim their rightful ownership of their destinies. This is my only prayer. Ameen.
