Looks like we have 100 likes. Awesome. As promised, here is a sample from the upcoming second book. I wanted to find a scene/section that could be shared without spoiling anything of Return of the Wizard King, nor giving too much about book two away either. Without further ado, heres the sample from the still WIP in progress, Trial of the Wizard King: Only the flutter of a few candles strewn randomly across the lavish room provided any light. The windows had all their drapes pulled tightly shut. Not that a great deal of light would spill in through them even if opened, given Altearin, Gurthghol’s realm, was a place of constant twilight. As Twila’s kisses intensified, Gurthghol latched on to her shoulders and turned her on her back, falling on top of her as he began ravaging her lips with his own. Before a fresh fire could be rekindled, there arose a forceful knocking at the wrought iron enforced door not ten yards from the bed. Neither paid it much heed at first, continuing to ensnare themselves with the other, but the knocking would not be denied. “My lord,” A voice now accompanied the aggressive pounding. “There’s an envoy who’s arrived with an urgent message.” Gurthghol pulled back from Twila with a frustrated sigh. “Just pretend you’re asleep,” she pleaded. “Lord Gurthghol?” the pounding intensified, this time with a raised voice. Gurthghol rose with another sigh and made his way to the door. His naked feet made little sound on the black marble floor, the same color as the silken pants he adjusted about his waist. “I’m coming.” A moment later his hand was on the door’s latch, yanking it open. “What is it?” The figures behind the door were about half Gurthghol’s size, making them look like children in comparison with the towering god. One was a Guardian, a special class of angel who served the pantheon as messengers and honor guard of Thangaria; the other was one of Gurthghol’s trusted Karduic servants. “Forgive me, sire.” The Kardu, named Erdis, gave a bow of his oval head, shaved save for one brown pony tail at the back, allowing his pointed ears to be clearly seen. “I wouldn’t have disturbed you if it wasn’t urgent.” The Kardu was dressed in rich robes but kept more to the look of a scholar compared with the martial qualities the Guardian engendered, even with his white robes and golden sash. “Ganatar has called for a council,” the Guardian said, making sure to keep his eyes focused on Gurthghol’s, as was proper protocol for such matters. “Why?” Gurthghol asked as he studied the angel closely. He was always interested in the way they never seemed to change. Every Guardian wore the same robes and sash, and even had the identical platinum hair. If not for the variation in skin tone there would be total uniformity amongst the race. Gurthghol found it a strange way to live, let alone perpetuate generation after generation. “A lich named Cadrith Elanis has returned.” The angel spoke with an emphasis conveying the greatest importance. “So?” “He was a wizard king…and it’s come to Ganatar’s attention that he’s being backed by an old foe.” “Old foe? You mean—” “I was told not to speak its name,” the angel interrupted, “out of respect.” Gurthghol smirked. “Still standing on superstitious ceremony, I see.” Yes, old fears and traditions didn’t just run in Guardians, it seemed. “This lich is making his way to Galba.”
